Heal ThySELF Private Coaching Sessions and Retreats
My name is Pamela Datsko, DVM, founder of Heal ThySELF DVM and practicing veterinarian for over 26 years.
I know from first-hand experience that it’s not easy being a veterinarian.
Being a veterinarian is often exhausting, and can leave you feeling burnt out, and wondering whether you should quit the profession altogether.
On the other hand, everyone is counting on you — you have animals to help, clients to serve, kids to put through college and a retirement account to fund.
There’s a reason we have the highest suicide rate of any occupation today.
So you trudge on, even though you find yourself not wanting to admit that you’re a vet in social situations because the constant requests for advice are draining. And as if you don’t have enough of your own, everyone puts their sad stories in your lap about their latest euthanasia experience.
You trudge on even though you’re stressed out and you know it’s unhealthy, but how are you supposed to find the time or motivation for exercise or to create other healthy habits?
And how do you stop yourself from lying awake at night cursing the clients who want everything cheaper and faster and beating yourself up about the lives you couldn’t save?
You long for a deeper emotional connection with your family, friends, and even yourself–yet it’s hard to move past your own walls, because they’re there for your own protection in a very challenging profession.
And you probably wonder: How did things end up this way? It wasn’t supposed to be like this…
When you were in school, you knew being a vet would be your superpower–you wanted to serve.
But now you go to work and feel like you’re at war with an enemy you can’t identify.
What’s commonly labeled as “compassion fatigue” feels more like “compassion overwhelm,” characterized by chronic anger and despair because you can never win.
But I’m here to tell you: It doesn’t have to be this way.
I founded Heal ThySELF DVM to help you break out of the cycle of despair and overwhelm, as I learned how to do, so you can regain a sense of well-being and power over your own life.
- So you can go to work every day, excited, knowing that you’re making a difference in the lives of your clients and their animals.
- So you can go home at night grateful for your clients (instead of angry at them) and excited to be with your loved ones.
- So you can nurture strong connections with yourself and your family, that fulfill you.
- So your finances and business can flourish.
- So self-flagellation can be replaced with self-love.
- So you can take off your “compassion fatigues.”
At Heal ThySELF DVM, my passion is helping you open the door to new ways of coping with the often burdensome challenges you face in the world of veterinary medicine and empower yourself to create the life you’ve always dreamed of–the one that sent you to veterinary school in the first place.
So you can become part of a community that supports and uplifts one another, until the idea of the suffering veterinarian becomes a long-lost myth.
If what I’m saying resonates with you, I’d love to talk, and help you decide if Heal ThySELF personal coaching sessions or retreats are right for you.
